To finally put together your new theme, place window drapes and exquisite table covers in their appropriate places. Display your grandmother's delicate china or a couple of colorful mugs and dishes on the shelves for a splash of style. Add vibrant kitchen accessories that complement your overall theme as well.
What if you are not able to afford redesigning experts? Well then you can do the work yourself. There are many self help books on kitchen improvement and cabinet designs that will show you how to do every step by yourself. First, you will have to search for a design that you can replicate in your kitchen for a low cost. Kitchen design magazines are filled with information on how to do just that. Next, by using these self help books you can get started with building your own kitchen's cabinets. You can do most of the work on redesigning those kitchen cabinets but, later on you will have to hire a kitchen design professional to finish the work off. Hence, not only do you save money but, also give a professional finish to your kitchen and it's cabinets.
When selecting colours, most experts will recommend sticking to basic colours, such as black and the more neutral tones. Black shows less marks from spilled food, while neutral colours are less likely to offend when it comes time to sell your house or apartment. This is because people are less shocked by traditional kitchen colours, especially on the cabinets.
Alternatively, try making your own kitchen accessories. If you are the crafty, artsy type then you could make your own kitchen decorating accessories. Most craft stores have several unfinished kitchen decor items that you can purchase and decorate on your own. For instance, you could buy an unfinished bread box and custom design it to fit your favorite decorating theme. When finished, that bread box will be an evident testimonial of your creative decorating abilities. Doing this with your entire kitchen decor collection will further add that personal touch that every kitchen deserves.
Make your designs, materials and appliances eco-friendly. Have energy efficient refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens and freezing units. The Australian Government recommends that all households use environmental friendly products, with appliances having Energy Rating Labels. This is to make it easy for consumers to know which appliance is best for their homes and the environment as a whole. The tagline says ’the more the stars, the more the savings’.
