Measure your kitchen. Before you do anything else, measure the dimensions of your kitchen so you know exactly how much space you have to work with. This is incredibly useful when it comes to picking out furniture and appliances as you can start to imagine where the different things will fit. A lot of people estimate with their designs and it comes back to bite them at a later stage. Don’t be one of these people.
Whether you are redesigning an existing kitchen or planning a new kitchen in a new home there are some design considerations to keep in mind, such as including in an island or peninsula as part of the kitchen design. These can be used to connect the kitchen to a nearby dining area or family room thereby creating a 'great room‘. A kitchen island or peninsula will allow the cook to keep in visual and conversational contact with family members or guests in the adjoining family or dining room.
The L-Shape. With this option, you make use of two walls, both adjacent to one another, in determining the placement of all appliances. This literally forms a capital "L˝ with the two lines of appliances meeting at a corner. The advantage of this option is that you have all of your necessary locations in one place, so you can avoid all the moving around.
